Summer 2016 Fine Art Auction Preview

Day One of the two day Summer 2016 Fine Art Auction at The Salerooms at St Edmunds Court on Okehampton Street in Exeter starts off with a selection of silver including a pair of George II cast silver candlesticks (FS31/147), which carry a pre-sale estimate of £2,500-£3,000 and a Queen Anne Britannia silver porringer (FS31/136), which is expected to fetch between £500-£700.
There is a large jewellery section on offer, with prices to suit all pockets. One of the star lots of this section is a platinum and diamond single stone ring (FS31/277) estimated at £8,000-£10,000. A pretty ruby, diamond and emerald mounted perched owl brooch (FS31/203) is also expected to sell well with an estimate of £1,700-£2,000. Also a pair of rose diamond mounted heart shaped cluster earrings (FS31/191) are inviting bids of £350-£450.
The first day of the sale finishes with the paintings section. Highlights include an oil on board by Helen Bradley (1900–1979) of Piccadilly, Manchester, 1915 (FS31/362), measuring 49.5cm x 75.5cm, which carries a pre-sale estimate of £30,000-£50,000 and a Portrait of a Gentleman in the manner of Sir Joshua Reynolds (18th Century) (FS31/409) – an oil on canvas, which is estimated at £2,000-£3,000.
Day Two of the the Fine Sale sees the ceramics come under the hammer.
A colourful Chinese export 'tobacco leaf' part dinner service (FS31/533) has an estimate of £2,000-£4,000, whilst an even more vibrantly coloured Clarice Cliff 'Tennis Trio' (FS31/650) is expected to fetch £300-£500.
In the works of art section, a group of four German carved ivory figures (FS31/803) are inviting bids of £2,000-£3,000, whilst a charming Austrian cold painted terracotta pug (FS31/633), which forms part of a collection of pugs, is expected to fetch between £400 and £600.
The final part of the sale includes carpets, rugs and furniture.
A large Heriz carpet (FS31/913) with a brick red field measuring 362cm x 288cm carries a pre-sale estimate of £1,500-£2,000, whilst two matching early 19th Century mahogany secretaire bookcases (FS31/1027) are inviting bids of £2,000-£2,500.
The auction goes on view of Friday, 8th July 2016 at the Auction Rooms, St Edmunds Court, Okehampton Street, Exeter, although there will be a selected preview available in the Estuary Room at Darts Farm, Topsham on Tuesday, 5th July 2016 from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
