Looking at the wonderful range of items included in Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood's' next Sporting & Collectors’ auction of the 22nd & 23rd November, you could well sound like an bizarre Julie Andrews trying to list your 'favourite things' included within the auction. Dinky cars, Steiff Teddy Bears, Coins, Medals, Antique Arms & Armour, Militaria and Vintage clothing are just a few of the categories within the sale, and there's plenty more with over 1400 lots over two days. If you are suffering from 'rainy day blues' then the Dobro steel resonator guitar would be perfect to add a soundtrack to your day. Its distinct sound will make any guitarist feel like Robert Johnson or Muddy waters, estimated £400-£600* it will no doubt reach the upper end of its estimate on the day.
Certainly some of the items that will be 'favourite things' for many, are pieces like the BSA D1 125 motorbike (Estimate £600-£800*). Actually uncovered from a boathouse rather than a barn, years of being kept stored means it is in a nice authentic state which will appeal to collectors’. The excellent condition of the late 18th century side by side flintlock pistol by Gill of Richmond will certainly be appealing to buyers who will not be deterred by the £1200-£1500* estimate for such a fine piece. Likewise the stamps section of the sale has some unique specimens and even the two old wooden tram advertising boards will make great interior design pieces for a modern home.
