Rare Napoleon Bonaparte Collectable: in Antiquarian book auction

Another interesting lot coming up in the forthcoming Antiquarian book auction on 15th March 2017 relates to Napoleon (BK17/403). It is the paper covers of an early 19th Century scrapbook , bearing the legend in a contemporary hand 'The paper covering this scrap book and forming its binding was taken from the bedroom of Bonaparte and once decorated its walls at Longwood in the Island of St Helena, June AD 1823'. The pre-sale estimate is £100 - £200

It is believed by some that Napoleon Bonaparte died of arsenic poisoning, caused by the damp atmosphere on St Helena causing a chemical reaction with the arsenic used in the printing ink of the wallpaper
