Cartier - Novelty Duck in Fine Jewellery Auction

The Spring 2014 Fine Art Sale to be held on 29th April 2014 includes some very unusual pieces of jewellery. Amongst these lots is a Cartier 18ct gold, agate, emerald and coral mounted 'novelty' duck brooch (FS22/233).

This unusual Cartier piece of jewellery depicts a duck wearing an Indian headdress and carrying an axe with agate body, circular emerald eye and coral feet. It measures 51mm overall and is inscribed France 18kts, with import marks for London 1952. It is being sold in a fitted gilt tooled red leather case stamped Cartier and is inviting bids of £1,500-£1,800.
